Long Story Short Hostel in Olomouc

Travel to Olomouc

1. Fly to Prague (PRG)

This is the main hub for guests arriving from France (Paris/Lyon/Bale-Mulhouse), Bulgaria (Sofia), and Ireland (Dublin).

2. Transfer to Prague Main Station

Head to Praha hlavní nádraží (Prague Main Station), often abbreviated Praha hl.n., before catching your train.

  • Airport Express (AE) bus: stop outside arrivals, direct ride in about 35-40 minutes, tickets from the driver (cash or card), price around 4€.
  • Taxi / Bolt / Uber: about 25-35 minutes. Use Bolt or Uber for a fixed price, or the official airport taxi at the terminal exits.

3. Take the train to Olomouc

The trip takes about 2 hours 15 minutes. Choose the operator that suits you best.

  • RegioJet: modern yellow trains, often the cheapest option.
  • České dráhy: national carrier; look for Pendolino or IC.

Parking

By car

If you are arriving by car, there is parking available near the venue.

Where to stay

Long Story Short

We booked beds at the venue for Friday and Saturday, with breakfast included.

  • For our Elders & Close Family: We have reserved 4 private double rooms at the venue. These are available for €120 per night.
  • For Friends & Family: We have shared rooms available (accommodating 4, 6, or 10 people) for €40 per night.
Don't worry about "roommate roulette"—we will personally coordinate the room assignments to ensure you are only sharing with people you know and love!

In the City

For those who want a private room outside the venue, we recommend:

Olomouc - Travel Tips

Horní náměstí (Upper Square)

The heart of the city: colorful houses, cafés, fountains, and a relaxed Moravian vibe. Perfect for coffee, photos, and soaking in the atmosphere. Be sure to visit a shop with Olomoucké tvarůžky, the local strong cheese. A fun, very Czech culinary experience for curious visitors.

Holy Trinity Column (UNESCO)

A monumental Baroque column and UNESCO World Heritage Site - symbol of Olomouc. Best admired in daylight, magical at sunset.

Olomouc Astronomical Clock

Very different from Prague’s version: socialist-realist style with moving workers on the Town Hall façade. Every day at 12:00, it comes to life with a short mechanical show. Unlike the famous Prague clock, this one has a unique socialist-era design - definitely worth seeing at least once!

St. Wenceslas Cathedral

An impressive Gothic cathedral near the castle area. Great stop if you like architecture - or just quiet, beautiful interiors.

Bezručovy sady (City Parks Walk)

Green parks wrapping around the old town - ideal for a relaxed stroll, picnic, or recovery after wedding celebrations 🌿

Svatý Kopeček

A small hill just outside the city with a basilica and panoramic views. Reachable by bus + short walk.

Šantovka - last minute shopping

If you forgot something for the wedding (or just need a quick outfit fix), head to Galerie Šantovka. It’s the largest shopping center in Olomouc, just a short walk from the old town, with fashion, cosmetics, pharmacies, and cafés - all in one place.
